Welcome to Markino. By downloading, installing, or using the Markino app ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Markino, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the app.

2. Description of Service

Markino is a macOS application that provides a markdown editor with the following features:

• Creating and editing markdown documents
• Live preview of rendered markdown
• Importing PDF files and converting them to markdown
• Exporting documents to HTML, PDF, Markdown, and plain text formats

3. License

Markino is provided free of charge. You are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on any Mac computers you own or control.

4. Your Content

You retain full ownership of all documents and content you create with Markino. The app does not claim any rights to your content. Your documents are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the app for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Interfere with or disrupt the app's functionality
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels

6. PDF Import

The PDF import feature extracts text from PDF documents using heuristic methods. You acknowledge that:

• Text extraction may not be perfect for all PDFs
• Scanned or image-based PDFs cannot be converted (OCR is not supported)
• You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to convert any PDF you import

7. Updates

Markino may check for updates and notify you when new versions are available. Updates are optional but recommended for bug fixes and new features.

8. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that:

• The app will be error-free or uninterrupted
• PDF conversion will be accurate for all documents
• Your local data will never be lost (maintain backups)

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, arising from your use of the app.

10. Changes to the App and Terms

We reserve the right to:

• Modify or discontinue the app at any time
• Update these Terms at any time

Continued use of the app after changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using Markino at any time by deleting the app from your device.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
